Christmas present for Holcomb - a new set of four man runners

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - The Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, Inc. presented a new set of four man runners to three-time Olympic medalist Steve Holcomb on Christmas Eve in Lake Placid.

They were built for the new Night Train 2 bobsled for the 2013-14 season, but were never used as Holcomb went on to win the first four four man races in that season when the sled debuted. He also took an Olympic bronze medal at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games in the same Bo-Dyn built sled.

“We are at the stage of the season when we need to test these runners as the set I used in the last race in Koenigssee just did not give me any speed on a track where I drive well,” said Holcomb.

“The quad I hurt in the first race of the season is getting better every day and my new team is improving every race. I like my chances in 2016, especially on the North American tracks.”

The World Cup tour resumes in 2016 in Lake Placid January 8-9, then on to Park CIty, Utah January 15-16. The third North American event is set for the 2010 Olympic course at Whistler, B.C. January 22-23. That’s where Holcomb captured Olympic gold.

In a strange schedule change, there will be two four man races staged in Park City and two two man events on the Whistler schedule. “Sliding on any track in North America gives us a better advantage against the German teams who dominated on the three German tracks where the first three races of the season were just held,” said Holcomb, “I have won on all of these tracks in the past so it’s time to perform."
